19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
