Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior official said the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
